Before I worked up the courage to pursue writing professionally, I was blogging on the Blogger platform since 2007. Those good ‘ole days, I was still getting my degree at the University. My site mostly involved poetry and song compositions; personal whims and experiences; as well as, restaurant, movies and book reviews. I was never really confident with my writing skills back then, which is why I never joined the school paper. The only chance I got to showcase my writing ability was when I was chosen to represent my degree for the English Story Writing Contest and of course, I failed miserably. I spent the following years after graduation (2011) falling in love with the Aviation Industry thinking that I would never be good enough to write in the
harsh real world.
Come March 2016, I chanced upon an employment opportunity on my phone whilst I was in bed trying to find the energy to prepare for another workday. It was an editing position and not writing, so I was brave enough to try my luck. Little did I know that decision would change my life. A day later, the company called me in, asked me to apply for the writer position instead, had me take a writing and grammar exam (without any mental or psychological preparations), and even experienced my most nerve wracking interview ever. That same day, they informed me that I got in and it was the most relieved I felt in years. I finally found a company that recognized my potential and trusted my writing skill without proper training. I was going through my quarter-life crisis during that time and this milestone cleared up the massive confusion that loomed over me.
After getting relevant SEO content writing, seminars and training, I asked to be transferred to the freelance position. I am still working for the same company, but I now get to live the digital dream. I found myself moving to Bangkok and have visited several countries since then. Besides writing for medical, dental, legal, construction and practically any industry requested, I have also proofread clients’ entire websites.
